Rooted in Tradition, Focused on the Future
Established in 1929, Raleigh Golf Association (RGA) is one of North Carolina’s oldest public golf courses and a cornerstone of the Triangle’s golf community. Conveniently located just minutes from downtown Raleigh, RGA offers 27 scenic holes designed to challenge and engage golfers of all skill levels. The course features 18 holes open to the public and 9 reserved for RGA stockholders, members, and organized events.
RGA is proudly known as a “walker-friendly” course, with minimal distances between greens and tees, making it ideal for those who enjoy a traditional, accessible golfing experience. Over the years, it has served as a home course for countless seniors, women’s leagues, junior players, and high school teams—becoming a beloved local institution.
A Revitalized Vision with McConnell Golf
In 2016, McConnell Golf assumed operational management of RGA, ensuring its long-term sustainability while preserving its rich history. In 2025, that partnership was further solidified with a long-term lease extension and a $3.5 million investment dedicated to revitalizing the course and facilities.
The renovation, led by renowned golf course architect Kris Spence, includes:
- A full course redesign with improved playability and aesthetics
- new, state-of-the-art driving range with 60 lighted hitting bays
- Plans for one of Raleigh’s premier golf teaching centers
This transformation honors RGA’s legacy while enhancing its future as a top-tier, affordable public golf destination for generations to come.
Community at the Core
Beyond its physical layout, RGA is defined by its community. The club hosts regular leagues, charity tournaments, and special events including the Cary Seniors League, Ladies League, Texas Scramble, and local high school matches. It’s a place where stories are shared, milestones are celebrated, and golf is more than just a game—it’s a shared experience.
Proudly Preserving Public Golf
At a time when many urban courses face redevelopment, RGA stands as a shining example of what’s possible when a community comes together to preserve green space and access to the game. With the continued support of its stockholders, members, and partners at McConnell Golf, RGA remains committed to offering affordable, inclusive golf that honors the spirit of its founders.
